Electric is deregulated, and you may use anyone that services the area.
Your electric provider may require verification from the city before they will activate your electric service. If you are informed you need such a notification, please contact City Staff at (972) 853-0027.

Contractor Registration
The City of Nevada takes a proactive position in the enforcement and regulation of our City's Ordinances. General contractors, building contractors, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical contractors must register with the City of Nevada prior to receiving any permits or performing any related work within the City of Nevada. Plumbing and electrical contractors must show a valid license for their trades at the time of registration. All registrations expire one year from the date of its submission. No permit is required at this time for irrigation, but you must provide a copy of the backflow test to the city.
Please ensure any contractor or subcontractor you utilize in the City of Nevada is properly registered with the City.

Residential Building Permit Requirements
(Including outbuildings, accessory buildings, and pools)
The City of Nevada has adopted the 2021 International Building Code and the 2020 International Electric Code. We require contractors and subcontractors, including trades, to be registered with the City (see contractor registration).
Applications for Residential Building Permits must include:
For calculating building valuations, the city uses the most current International Code Council Building Valuation Data (formerly the Southern Building Code Congress International Inc.)
* Before a permit will be issued, the contractor must completely fill out the application, list all subcontractors, be current on all fees, and all subs must be registered with the City.
* Depending on size, some outbuildings and accessory buildings may not require all of the items listed for Blueprints.
* Upon receipt of your completed request, you will receive correspondence from the City of Nevada within 48 hours (business hours) providing you with any next steps or timelines.
